Customer Reviews

Excellent Quality for Price

Review by Christine Robson, 2010-05-09

This white oak barrel is exactly what I needed for Balsamic Vinegar making. The barrel is solid construction, very attractive on the outside with nicely riveted hoops and a lovely grain oak. The inside is medium toasted, as advertised, though the toasting is not perfectly even. The stand is also solid construction and matches well. The bung and spigot are not of the same quality however- they look fine as decoration, but do not seem solid enough to trust liquid to. The bung does not fit snugly. I will probably replace them.

The seller responded within hours to my email asking about delivery date. The barrel only arrived one day late (ordered April 16, 2010, expected delivery April 30-May 7, delivered May 8). I am pleased with the shipping- the barrel, stand and spigot were individually wrapped and padded- no chance of even a scratch on the nice finish. Overall I would recommend this barrel as both a decorative piece and for oaking wine/vinegar.
